Late Thorns goal earns draw vs. Wave, keeps teams level in standings

Reyna Reyes scored in the 86th minute as the Portland Thorns rallied for a 1-1 draw with the visiting San Diego Wave on Saturday night.
Reyes tapped in a rebound of a Olivia Moultrie free kick from outside the middle of the penalty box that had caromed to her off the bottom of the crossbar.
Mackenzie Arnold finished with six saves for Portland (8-6-7, 31 points).
Savannah McCaskill scored the first goal in five games for San Diego (8-6-7, 31 points). DiDi Haracic, making her first start for the Wave, made two saves.
McCaskill's first goal of the season and 19th of her NWSL career came in the 56th minute on a left-footed shot from outside the box that went through traffic and into the bottom-left corner. It was the first goal scored by San Diego since Kenza Dali scored in the 63rd minute in a 2-1 win over Bay FC on Aug. 16, snapping a scoreless streak of 443 minutes.
With the draw, both Portland and San Diego moved into a third-place tie in the NWSL, one point ahead of Gotham FC and the Seattle Reign who both have 30 points. The top four teams in the standings will earn a home playoff match.
