Lindsey Jacobellis Comes Up Agonizingly Short Yet Again

American Lindsey Jacobellis is perhaps the greatest boardercross racer of all-time. She’s won 10 X-Games golds and five world championships, though the Olympics have been anomalously cruel to her. You probably remember her fall at the 2006 Turin Olympics, when she showed off with an unnecessary grab, only to fall and settle for the silver medal.
After finishing fifth in Vancouver and missing the final in Sochi, Jacobellis came into tonight’s final as the favorite. Unfortunately, she once again failed to get that elusive gold medal. Despite leading for the majority of the first half of the race, Jacobellis seemed to run out of gas, as she was passed by almost the entire field, ending up with fourth place only because of a late fall by a competitor.

If Jacobellis can stick around and break her streak in Beijing at age 36, that would be one hell of an Olympic story.
