LNG, Gen.G move on to knockout stage at Worlds

Jordan Woodruff LNG Esports and Gen.G Esports advanced to the knockout stage by winning their Round 3 fixtures on Saturday at the 2024 League of Legends World Championship Swiss Stage in Berlin.
LNG Esports recorded a 2-0 victory over Dplus while Gen.G Esports posted a 2-1 win over Hanwha Life Esports to move on at the $2,225,000 championship event.
The Swiss Stage format sorted 16 teams into eight Round 1 matches, with Rounds 2 through 5 seeded based on win-loss record. Teams that reach three wins advance to the knockout stage, while teams that wind up with three losses are eliminated.
Elimination and advancement matches are best-of-three, while all others are best-of-one.
On Saturday, LNG notched 37- and 40-minute wins on red to dispatch Dplus. Gen.G Esports, in turn, overcame a first-map setback to win Games 2 and 3 to upend Hanwha Life Esports.
