Massachusetts Man Cannot Handle Seeing A Sunfish: "What The Fuck Is That, Kid?"
At first, it’s reasonable to think that this video’s protagonist, a man from Malden, is laying the Massachusetts accent on a little thick as he reacts to seeing a sunfish in the water. Oh man, Jay, it’s dead, bro, or somethin’! Michael Bergin’s interview with the Boston Globe basically confirms that no, this guy is the real deal.
First, watch the five-minute video—with The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Juicy” faintly playing in the background—in which Bergin’s mind is blown as he sees the thing in the water. At first, he and Jay believed the creature to be a sea turtle, then a baby whale/wheel(??), but eventually correctly identify it as a sunfish. Please enjoy the best unscripted nature show of 2015:
The Globe talked to Bergin after his Facebook video blew up, and he sounded like he hadn’t come down from his high of seeing a sunfish in the wild:
“I ain’t seen nothing like that in my entire life, bro. I ain’t even been to the Aquarium,” Bergin said. “When I see something like that, I’m amazed, bro. It’s like seeing a gorilla for the first time, man.”
[...]
“It’s going viral all over the computer, bro,” Bergin said. “It feels a little good. I can’t believe it’s going viral like this, but I promise you, buddy, that video is so real you wouldn’t even know.”
What a great way to end summer.
