Mandatory Credit: Jerome Miron-Imagn Images Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis was diagnosed with a low-grade left calf strain and will sit out the next two games before he is reevaluated.
The Mavericks delivered the update Friday as the team prepared to face the Detroit Pistons and Houston Rockets in Mexico City. Dallas coach Jason Kidd told reporters in Mexico that Davis was considered day-to-day.
Davis sustained the injury Wednesday during Dallas' 107-105 win over the Indiana Pacers. He scored a basket in the first quarter but came up hobbled on the play and soon left for the locker room.
Davis has battled repeated injuries in recent years, including missing all but nine games after being traded to the Mavericks from the Los Angeles Lakers last February. Aside from the 76 games he played in 2023-24, Davis has missed at least 26 games each season since 2020-21.
The 10-time All-Star has averaged 20.8 points and 10.2 rebounds through five games in the early stages of this season.
