It was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad night for Binghamton Senators goalie Andrew Hammond, whose Senators took on the Lehigh Valley Phantoms tonight in AHL action.
Fifteen seconds into the game, Phantom Petr Straka received a nice pass and wristed a goal past an out-of-position Hammond. Twenty-seven seconds into the game, a wide open Jason Akeson dragged Hammond out of position and fired a goal past him (:50 in the clip above). Thirty-six seconds into the game, Andrew Gordon did something with the puck—fired it into the mixer? had his pass tipped?—and it somehow trickled past Hammond into the goal (1:39 in the clip above).
And that was it for Andrew Hammond's night, as he got pulled from the game after just 36 seconds. He got pulled from the game before most of the crowd had even bought their beers and gotten to their seats. He had a goals against average of 300.00 for the game. The three goals scored against him were either the fastest or tied for the fastest in AHL history. His team lost 5-3.
Hammond's disgust and bewilderment is evident after the third goal:
