Junior Hockey Team Stunts On Blowout Victims With Sick Goals
The OHL’s Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds took a 2-0 series lead on Saginaw yesterday, earning a win in both a stylish and maybe kind of over-the-top fashion. With a 6-0 lead in the third period, the Greyhounds were ... let’s say, unrestrained as they played out the final minutes.
First, Keeghan Howdeshell executed the Mike Legg lacrosse goal, one of the prettiest and rarest maneuvers in the sport. Less than a minute later, Barrett Hayton piled on, sending an infuriatingly tricky between-the-legs shot past a thoroughly vanquished Evan Cormier, who to his credit managed 36 saves in this lopsided contest. The beatdown, though entertaining, mercifully ended at 8-0.
The Greyhounds were really psyched about those insurance goals, too.
There are at least two more games left in this series.
