NCAA Mistakenly Sends FCS National Championship Banner To Rival School
What's the difference between North Dakota and North Dakota State? Fuck if the NCAA knows. North Dakota State won the FCS title in January, but the NCAA accidentally mailed the championship banner to North Dakota, even going so far as to address it to North Dakota's athletic director by name. But get this straight: Grand Forks and Fargo are separated by 80 miles of hostility, OK?
UND and NDSU haven't met on the football field since 2003, when North Dakota State moved up from Division II. But the mix-up already seems to be reanimating the rivalry. The North Dakota athletic director told the Grand Forks Herald he intends to call the North Dakota State AD to tell him where the banner is, though the story doesn't say anything about any plans to hand it over. And David St. Peter, the president of the Minnesota Twins and a UND alumnus, has suggested that North Dakota hold the banner hostage until NDSU agrees to play UND in football again. Which, come to think of it, is actually a better solution than the BCS.
