You had three options here, goalkeeper: 1) run out to the incoming back pass and meet it right after it bounces, 2) step back a few steps and take the ball off your chest after it took that towering though perfectly predictable skip off the turf, 3) loiter around in the box and find yourself standing directly underneath what will soon be the apex of the ball’s flight, hopping hopelessly as it whizzes over your head and trickles into the back of your own net. I dare say you chose the wrong one.
