Williamson was downgraded to out for Tuesday's game against the visiting Minnesota Timberwolves with "right adductor soreness."
The 25-year-old will be re-evaluated in three weeks, according to ESPN.
Williamson scored 25 points in New Orleans' 104-96 loss against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday before sitting out Sunday's 133-121 setback to the Los Angeles Lakers.
A two-time All-Star, Williamson has averaged 22.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists while playing in just 10 of the 21 games this season for the Pelicans (3-18).
Williamson has struggled with injuries since he was drafted No. 1 overall by New Orleans in 2019. He has averaged 24.6 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists through 224 career starts.
