Don’t be surprised if we’ve seen the last of the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.

Two years ago, the Eagles became Super Bowl champions by dethroning the Kansas City Chiefs. Last season, Philadelphia’s repeat dreams never made it beyond the first round of the NFL Playoffs, where the Eagles were eliminated on Wild Card weekend against the San Francisco 49ers.

Despite a 4-0 start last season, the Eagles never looked right offensively. Superstar wide receiver A.J. Brown seemed disgruntled with his role in Philadelphia as soon as the final piece of confetti hit the turf in their Super Bowl celebration.

Philly’s rushing attack anchored by Saquon Barkely took a step back in 2025 following his tremendous 2,000 yard season that helped the Eagles win the title the year prior.

Now, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Tim McManus are reporting that the Eagles are at a crossroads with star quarterback Jalen Hurts.

According to the bombshell report, Hurts is shouldering blame for Philadelphia’s offensive struggles last season. The 27-year-old quarterback pushed back against certain changes that would diversify the scheme, including him going under center more. The report states that Hurts diverts from the game plan and changes the play call at the line of scrimmage to what some within the Eagles feel is excessive.

“Poor body language, not always bought in, not the most coachable and the player’s notice,” a team source said.

Following Philadelphia’s disappointing Super Bowl repeat bid, the Eagles fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo and replaced him with Sean Mannion, a 33-year-old wonderchild who comes from the Kyle Shanahan and Sean McVay school of offense, which does prioritize quarterbacks going under center, heavy play-action, etc.

If Hurts isn’t bought in, the Eagles could be in big trouble in 2026.

Brown remains on the roster for now. DeVonta Smith will be back. Barkley will be back as well.

The Eagles don’t lack talent.

But if they trade Brown, things look a bit more barren. Barkley turned 29 years old in February, and you know what they say about aging running backs.

If the Eagles underwhelm again in 2026, it’s possible that head coach Nick Sirriani would be the fall man, out of a job two seasons removed from winning the Super Bowl. Or, if Eagles general manager Howie Roseman believes in Sirriani more than he does Hurts… well… we know the uncomfortable implosion that could be on the way.
