Pirates-Tigers postponed, will play doubleheader Thursday

The Wednesday night contest between the Pittsburgh Pirates and host Detroit Tigers was postponed due to inclement weather.
The game has been rescheduled as part of a split doubleheader on Thursday. The first game is slated to begin at 1:10 p.m. ET with the nightcap scheduled for 5:40 p.m. ET.
Tigers ace left-hander Tarik Skubal (7-2, 1.99 ERA) will start Game 1, but it appears there won't be an elite pitching matchup as the Pirates announced after Wednesday's postponement that ace right-hander Paul Skenes (4-6, 1.78 ERA) will start Game 2.
Skubal, the reigning American League Cy Young Award winner, was the scheduled Wednesday starter for Detroit. Skenes, who was third in National League Cy Young balloting last season, was slated as the initial Thursday starter.
Left-hander Andrew Heaney (3-5, 3.33 ERA) is slated to start Game 1 for Pittsburgh. He was the Wednesday starter before weather wiped out the game.
Detroit hasn't formally announced a Game 2 starter. The Tigers may opt for an opener and then have right-hander Keider Montero (3-1, 4.24 ERA) pitch the bulk of the contest.
Detroit beat Pittsburgh 7-3 on Tuesday in the opener of the three-game series.
