Mandatory Credit: Steve Roberts-Imagn Images Nashville Predators captain Roman Josi is expected to attend training camp and play next season after being diagnosed with postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS) toward the end of the NHL season, the team announced Wednesday.
The symptoms of POTS -- a treatable condition that has no cure -- include a fast heart rate, dizziness and fatigue.
The three-time All-Star was limited to 53 games in 2024-25 after suffering a concussion on Feb. 25 against the back-to-back champion Florida Panthers. Josi, 35, scored nine goals and added 29 assists.
"He has been undergoing treatment since that diagnosis and is progressing exceptionally well," Predators general manager Barry Trotz said in a statement. "We concur with Roman that with continued management and treatment, he can return to the ice for the 2025-26 season and continue with his elite hockey career."
The 2020 Norris Trophy winner was one of the first six players named to Switzerland's Olympic team on Monday ahead of the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games. He played for the Swiss team at the 2014 Sochi Olympics and Team Europe at the 2016 World Cup.
Josi has spent 14 seasons, his entire NHL career, with the Predators. In 962 games, the left-shot defenseman has 724 points (190 goals, 534 assists). He has added 12 goals and 33 assists in 91 playoff games.
