Red Sox activate RHP Justin Slaten, OF Rob Refsnyder

The Boston Red Sox activated right-hander Justin Slaten from the 60-day injured list Thursday and brought back outfielder Rob Refsnyder from the 10-day IL.
Slaten has been out since late May with shoulder inflammation, while Refsnyder was sidelined with a left oblique strain.
To make room on the active roster, first baseman Nathaniel Lowe was placed on the paternity list and left-hander Jovani Moran was optioned to Triple-A Worcester.
Slaten, 27, was 1-4 with a 3.47 ERA in 24 relief appearances this season and 7-6 with a 3.09 ERA in 68 career relief appearances over the past two seasons.
Refsnyder, 34, is batting .272 with six home runs and 22 RBIs in 54 games with the Red Sox this season. Over 10 major league seasons with six different clubs, Refsnyder is a career .255 hitter with 30 home runs and 146 RBIs over 525 games.
Lowe, 30, was batting .296 with a home run and seven RBIs in nine games since he was signed by the Red Sox on Aug. 18 after he was released by the Washington Nationals.
Moran, 28, had a 6.75 ERA in just two relief appearances for Boson this season.
