Mandatory Credit: Peter Casey-Imagn Images The first major of the PGA Tour Champions season will have a Monday finish after multiple weather delays affected the Regions Tradition on Sunday at Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Ala.
Jerry Kelly and Argentina's Angel Cabrera are tied for the lead at 18 under par, one stroke ahead of South Korea's Y.E. Yang, with a handful of holes left to play in the fourth round.
The tournament will resume Monday at 9 a.m. ET (8 a.m. local time).
The final threesome of Kelly, Yang and South Korea's Charlie Wi (16 under) were on the par-5 15th hole, while Cabrera and New Zealand's Steven Alker (16 under) were on the par-4 16th when tour officials decided to suspend the round due to darkness.
Multiple players, including Kelly and Wi, were seen on the Golf Channel broadcast telling rules officials that they could not see in the dying light.
Shortly before the decision was made, Cabrera three-putted for bogey at the par-5 No. 15 to fall into a tie with Kelly. He had made birdie at seven of his first 13 holes to charge up the leaderboard after starting Sunday three shots off Kelly's lead.
The final round did not get underway until 12 p.m. local due to heavy rain. Play was then suspended for inclement weather around 1:20 p.m. and re-started at 3 p.m. before the leaders had even begun their rounds.
Kelly, Yang and Wi were all 3 under for their rounds through 14 holes. Alker was 3 under through 15.
Canadian Stephen Ames was on the par-5 18th hole and was able to finish with a 4-under-par 68. He is tied for sixth with Chris DiMarco at 15 under.
The round of the day was a 7-under 65 from Spaniard Miguel Angel Jimenez, which pushed him into a tie for ninth at 13 under.
