Report: A-Rod's Lawyer Tried To Fight Anthony Bosch's Lawyer
You know what this Alex Rodriguez appeal case has been missing all this time? A lawyer fight! Thanks to Rodriguez's attorney, Joe Tacopina, we finally got one. Someone hold Tacopina's cuff links, because he's ready to swing.
The New York Daily News brings us details of this reported lawyer fight, which took place at the MLB offices and saw Tacopina getting into it with Julio Ayala, the attorney representing Biogenesis founder Anthony Bosch. Apparently, the fight began when Tacopina complained about how long Bosch's testimony was taking, before quickly devolving into personal and physical attacks. Let's go to the blow-by-blow:
Tacopina, a former hockey player who holds the Skidmore College record for most penalty minutes in a season, then made a derogatory statement about Ayala and “his lying wife,” Susy Ribero-Ayala, another attorney representing Bosch, angering Julio Ayala. Tacopina then “bull-rushed” Ayala, who went toe-to-toe with Tacopina, in the words of one source.
Ayala, a former high school football player, stood his ground, but other attorneys restrained Tacopina before any punches were thrown. Eventually, the two men calmed down and the hearing resumed after the break.
Bless the Daily News staff for going the extra mile and digging up Tacopina's penalty minutes record. That's the kind of detail that really adds necessary richness to a story like this. Unfortunately, A-Rod and Bosch did not have a chance to get involved in the fracas themselves. The Daily News says they were both peeing when the fight happened.
