Mandatory Credit: Joe Camporeale-Imagn Images Boxing greats Canelo Alvarez of Mexico and Terence Crawford have agreed to a fight this September in Las Vegas, according to a report by Combatazo.
A showdown between two of the best fighters of their generation was rumored to be in the works, as they each met separately with Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh over the weekend at the Ring Magazine awards in London, Talksport.com reported.
Crawford has previously made clear he wants a shot at Alvarez and would move up two weight classes to 168 pounds to fight him.
Alvarez, 34, is 62-2-2 all-time and has held world championships in four weight classes. Best known for going 2-0-1 in his trilogy fight against Gennady Golovkin, Alvarez last fought in September and won by unanimous decision over Edgar Berlanga.
Crawford, 37, is also a former world champion at four weights and a perfect 41-0 in his boxing career. When he last fought in August, he beat Israil Madrimov by unanimous decision to collect the WBA and WBO interim light middleweight titles.
