Report: Joe Philbin, Jeff Ireland Could Be Fired For Incognito Mess
Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland and coach Joe Philbin could be the fall guys for the situation involving Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin, regardless of the team's performance for the rest of the season.
According to Mike Silver of NFL Network, team owner Stephen Ross wouldn't be as keen to stand behind his front office like Saints owner Tom Benson did with Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis during the bounty scandal. Ireland's been an idiot before, and unlike Payton, Philbin hasn't won anything.
Silver on NFL GameDay Morning:
"Jeff Ireland already has the reputation in league circles for being a guy who 'we can't believe he still has his job.' They're 4-4, but there's clearly a void here. Expect somebody to pay."
