Report: WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling to visit Saints
Bills Keon Coleman and Marquez Valdes-Scantling chat while stretching at Bills training camp at St. John Fisher University in Pittsford, NY on August 8, 2024. Wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling will travel to New Orleans to visit the Saints on Monday, NFL Network reported.
Valdes-Scantling was released by Buffalo on Tuesday after the Bills acquired five-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Amari Cooper from the Cleveland Browns.
The Saints could use some help in the wide receiver room with Rashid Shaheed undergoing season-ending meniscus surgery on Thursday and star Chris Olave dealing with a concussion.
Shaheed played the first six games of the season for New Orleans, starting five and making 20 catches. He leads the Saints in receiving yards (349) and touchdown receptions (three).
Olave has 29 catches for 280 yards and one touchdown in six games in 2024.
Valdes-Scantling, 30, has two receptions on nine targets for 26 yards in six games as a reserve this season.
Valdez-Scantling has 188 receptions for 3,181 yards in 98 career games (60 starts) for the Green Bay Packers (2018-21), Kansas City Chiefs (2022-23) and Bills.
The Packers selected him in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
The Saints (2-5) have dropped five consecutive games after losing 33-10 to the Denver Broncos on Thursday. They will face the Los Angeles Chargers on the road next Sunday.
