Mandatory Credit: Ken Ruinard/GREENVILLE NEWS-USA TODAY Network via Imagn Images Syracuse quarterback Steve Angeli is expected to miss the rest of the 2025 season with a torn Achilles, multiple outlets reported on Sunday.
The signal-caller, who helped the Orange spring a 34-21 road upset of Clemson on Saturday, was injured during that contest. He fell awkwardly during a third-quarter run with his team leading 27-14. It was a non-contact injury.
After a season-opening loss to then No. 24 Tennessee, Angeli has sparked Syracuse to three straight wins, passing for 1,316 yards with 10 touchdowns against just two interceptions.
A junior transfer from Notre Dame, this has been easily Angeli's most productive season under center. In three previous seasons with the Fighting Irish, he passed for a combined 772 yards and 10 touchdowns.
On Saturday, he was relieved by Rickie Collins, himself a transfer from LSU. Collins completed three of eight passes for 34 yards and a touchdown in less than two quarters of action against Clemson.
