Russia's Leading Scorer Tasered For Giving Jersey To A Fan, Then Police Deny It Ever Happened
Zenit St. Petersburg striker Danko Lazovic wanted to give some fans a meaningful souvenir—his shirt—after his team's 2-0 victory against FC Volga on Saturday. Instead, the Russian police decided to give him a meaningful burn on his side. Then they said it never happened, as you'll hear in the above video.
Lazovic has nine goals in 13 games for Zenit St. Petersburg, which currently sits in second place in the Premier League, behind CSKA Moscow.
Here's more:
‘I just went to give my jersey to the fans after the match when a police officer appeared behind me and tasered me in the back with his electric shocker,' said Lazovic. ‘I don't know why that happened. Maybe he thought that I was one of the fans. 'Sometimes people do really awful things. ‘It was a strange feeling. It's just amazing that kind of thing can happen at sporting events, but here, in Russia, apparently everything is possible.' An investigative committee is now probing the police force in a bid to clean up the image of Russian football before they host the World Cup in 2018.
Danko, you should probably double-check your soup for isotopes from now on.
