San Jose Earthquakes Keeper David Bingham Walks Off A Blow To The Head
San Jose Earthquakes' goalkeeper David Bingham looked to suffer a pretty serious head injury in Saturday's game against the New England Revolution. Trying to defend a low cross, Bingham lunged toward the top of the penalty box, where his head was hit directly by the upper body of an offensive player a teammate.
Bingham appeared to be almost knocked out in the immediate aftermath of the violent collision, not responding to some prodding from teammates for at least a couple seconds. Amazingly, less than a minute after laying face down on the ground and seemingly unable to move, Bingham was back in front of the net.
Aside from a trainer gently touching Bingham's head, and some uncomfortable glances between San Jose coaches, no one questioned whether the goalkeeper should be allowed to return.
