Some Odd Pro-Joe "Vandalism" At The Paterno Statue
On Thursday, the release day of the Freeh Report, some Penn Staters gathered and left tokens at the Joe Paterno statue. One of them was the most levelheaded commentary we've yet seen—a note reading "Remember: He was a Man. Not a God!!" (You can see the original at Onward State.)
Yesterday, a reader sent along a photo of what that note looks like now. Two corners, artfully torn off, to transform the message completely. We don't want to paint everyone with the same brush, so just as yesterday's overwrought reaction to the renaming of Paternoville revealed the mindset of some PSU faithful, this reveals the mindset of one of them. And that's telling enough.
