Susan Collins Is Still An Asshole
Photo: [object Object] In the wake of a divisive presidential election, America is seeking unifying political figures. It is an important time to reaffirm the fact that moderate Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins is, indeed, an asshole.
Susan Collins, the “moderate” Republican who can “cross the aisle” to be “bipartisan” and who DC journalists love to hold up as the freaking model for sanity and compromise and decorum and Everything That Used to Be Good About This Great Deliberative Body, waited until August 9, 2016 before deciding she would not vote for the openly racist candidate, Donald Trump. Taking many, many months to think about whether or not you are going to provide political support to the openly racist candidate does not make you a hero. It makes you an asshole. The question before us now is: Is Susan Collins still an asshole?
If only there were another opportunity to rebuke another racist, climate change-denying idiot that we could use to determine whether or not Susan Collins is the political hero she is often made out to be. What might she say this time?
“Senator Jeff Sessions and I came to the Senate the same year, so I have known him for nearly 20 years. He is an individual who works hard, believes in public service, and acts with integrity. As a former U.S. Attorney and former Alabama Attorney General, Senator Sessions is well qualified and would serve our country well as United States Attorney General.”
Susan Collins, a Republican Senator, is an asshole. But I repeat myself.
