T.J. Ward Avoids Jail Time For Throwing Mug At Strip-Club Bartender
Remember T.J. Ward getting charged after some sort of strip-club altercation? Today, the Broncos safety settled all that by agreeing to perform four hours of community service, the Denver Post. In return, prosecutors will drop the charges against him.
It all started when Ward allegedly tried to bring his own drink into a Denver strip club on May 10. Hey, who hasn't thought about doing that? Those drinks are expensive and watery.
But when a bartender at PT's All Nude made him ditch his drink, pouring out the contents herself, Ward responded by throwing a glass mug at her and striking her in the wrist, according to the statement of probable cause obtained by the Post and published below.
Denver police charged him with misdemeanor assault and disturbing the peace.
Ultimately, Ward was offered a plea deal because he had no previous criminal record, Melissa Drazen-Smith, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office, told the Post. When the paper asked if the bartender was OK with the deal, Drazen-Smith said only, "The victim was contacted."
