TCU Overcomes 31-Point Halftime Deficit, Beats Oregon 47-41 In Overtime

An Alamo Bowl that looked just like the rest of this boring bowl season when Oregon and TCU headed to the locker rooms with the Ducks up 31-0 at halftime became a stunning win for the Horned Frogs after Oregon starting QB Vernon Adams Jr. left the game due to injury and the Ducks’ offense suddenly disappeared.

The resulting field position advantages led TCU to score their own 31 unanswered points, with a late field goal forcing overtime. Both squads found the end zone in the first overtime round and settled for field goals in the second; in the third overtime, TCU backup quarterback Bram Kohlhausen scraped along the sideline for a touchdown but couldn’t connect with the two-point conversion attempt. It didn’t matter. Oregon’s offense displayed the same ineptitude it did the whole second half and failed on a fourth-and-eight to keep the game alive.
