That's A Lot Of Points, Folks
Well, the Sunday NFL spreads are out, and ... Oh My Lord. If you thought that there would be no way you'd touch the Jets-Patriots game, can Las Vegas tempt you with 24 1/2 points? And some freshly-baked lemon squares? That's right oddsmakers; Mangenius vs. Belicheat now features the largest point spread in NFL history. Enjoy.
The spread is the highest America's Line has issued in its 20 years covering the NFL. Two weeks ago, the Patriots were favored by 24 over the Eagles. In 1987 and 1993, the San Francisco 49ers were 23-1/2-point favorites over the Falcons and Bengals, respectively.
Of course, this is all moot: The following week the Patriots play the Dolphins. "Um, I'll take New England and give the 50 points, please. And I'll have a muffin."
Thanks for the parity, NFL.
