The Cardinals Lost Their 34th Game
Photo: [object Object] Adam Lind smacked a three-run walkoff homer Friday as the Seattle Mariners beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 4-3.
The Mariners held a 1-0 lead through seven innings, but in the top of the eighth, Seattle reliever Joaquin Benoit loaded the bases and walked in a run to tie the game. Donn Roach replaced him, and Kyle Seager’s error on Matt Holliday’s groundout allowed the Redbirds to score two more runs.
But in the bottom of the ninth, Trevor Rosenthal couldn’t record an out. The St. Louis closer gave up a double to Seager and walked Dae-ho Lee before Lind took Rosenthal’s changeup into the seats. (Mobile users can watch here.)
The Cardinals are 38-34 and 6-12 in one-run games. There’s always the next game!
