The Cardinals Lost Their 59th Game
[object Object] Alejandro De Aza homered and drove in five runs Thursday as the Mets beat the Cardinals 10-6.
Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright surrendered seven runs in five innings, but only two of those runs were earned. Cardinals shortstop Greg Garcia’s throwing error with two outs in the top of the fifth allowed De Aza to come to the plate with two men on. De Aza hit a three-run homer, extending the Mets’ lead to seven.
The Cardinals rallied back, scoring six runs in the final three innings, including two solo homers from Jedd Gyorko and Stephen Piscotty in the bottom of the ninth, but the late rally was too little too late.
The Cardinals are 67-59 and 29-35 at home. There’s always the next game!
