The Charlotte Bobcats' Top 10 Plays, Annotated

Presumably due to some inescapable contractual obligation, NBA.com put together a highlight reel of the Bobcats' top 10 plays of 2011-2012. This is not a joke; they were able to find 10. Let's run them down, with some much-needed context.

10) Midway through the third quarter, down 11 to the Nets. Tyrus Thomas stuffs a Kris Humphries dunk attempt. Charlotte would go on to lose the game, 97-87, their fourth of a 16-game losing streak.

9) Two minutes into a game against the Nets, Corey Maggette drives the lane and puts the Bobcats up 4-0. Without the ailing Deron Williams, the Nets would promptly go on a 15-0 run and win the game 83-74.

8) Byron Mullens soars for a two-handed slam past two Grizzlies. Mullens would play 40 minutes, going 4-13 from the field, and Charlotte fell to Memphis for their 19th consecutive loss.

7) Bismack Biyombo throws down against the 76ers, off a bounce pass from Kemba Walker. It put the Bobcats up 9-8 with just 43-plus minutes left, the last lead they would hold. Philly closed the the quarter on a 17-6 run, and the Bobcats fell to 3-25 on the season.

6) Kemba Walker breaks some ankles for a driving layup as time expires in the first quarter, cutting the Pistons' lead to four. Detroit would win the game 98-81, breaking their six-game losing streak.

5) With the score tied late in the third, Gerald Henderson drives through the Cleveland defense. The Cavs would outscore Charlotte 31-19 in the fourth quarter, led by D-League flotsam Lester Hudson. The Bobcats fell to 7-49 on the season.

4) Byron Mullens dunks over Atlanta's Zaza Pachulia to bring the Bobcats within one. The Hawks would score 97 points over the last three quarters and top the Bobcats by 20. It was Charlotte's 11th loss in a row.

3) On the season's opening night, Corey Maggette puts home a D.J. Augustin alley-oop to close Milwaukee's lead to 11 points. The Bobcats would go on to win the game, then lose 59 out of their next 65.

2) D.J. White dunks in traffic, cutting Toronto's lead to 13. "We played a good game as a team," said D.J. Augustin, after the Bobcats' 7th win of the season. "We've got to do that more often." They would win no more games.

1) Bismack Biyombo rejects Trevor Ariza's dunk at the buzzer, giving Charlotte a 73-71 win over New Orleans. The Hornets would finish the year as the Western Conference's worst team, with 14 more victories than the Bobcats, and leapfrog Charlotte in the draft lottery for the rights to Anthony Davis.
