The Demons Still Haunt Blair Walsh
The Seahawks didn’t need field goals Sunday night in order to drub the Colts, 46-18, but it was a bit concerning when placekicker Blair Walsh missed a 37-yard attempt in the second quarter—and then six practice shots during halftime, including his first three.
Michele Tafoya reported on Walsh’s struggle, while Sunday Night Football showed four of the dismal kicks, each from 51 yards out. Three went wide left; one hit the upright.
Stephen Hauschka, Seattle’s previous kicker, is now with the Bills and has made eight of his nine attempts this season, with four of them coming from 50 or more, and is a perfect 7-for-7 on extra points. Walsh, meanwhile, is 6-for-7 on FGs, with his longest coming from 44, and 8-of-9 on extra points. He hasn’t made a field goal from 50-plus since Week 1 of the 2016 season. The Seahawks should possibly look at another kicker.
