The Crappy Manaus Pitch Is Being Spray-Painted Green

The turf at Manaus's Arena Amazonia is still going to be shit for Saturday's England-Italy match. It's going to be sandy and uneven and third-rate. But worry not: It's going to look great on TV. Today, workers laid down green spray paint to cover the brown parts.
The caption to the Getty photo above doesn't specify what's being sprayed, but journalists in the arena confirm that it is in fact just green paint. One even shared a photo showing the contrast.
This isn't unique to Brazil— green-dyed sand was used in Dallas last year for the Gold Cup, so Americans aren't allowed to make fun—but it's just the latest in a series of very bad looks for the most useless stadium in the Western Hemisphere.
