The Royals Have Reopened The Blue Jays Sign-Stealing Controversy
A playoff series is always improved when one team is willing to talk some mess between games, so we thank the Royals for dusting off the old “The Blue Jays steal signs!” conspiracy theory.
In case you don’t remember, the Blue Jays found themselves in a bit of a shit storm back in 2010, when ESPN wrote about a mysterious “man in white” who may or may not have been stealing signs on behalf of the Blue Jays. Two guys who certainly haven’t forgotten that story are Royals pitchers Edinson Volquez and Johnny Cueto:
Don’t be too annoyed at Cueto if he complained about signs being stolen after his start. If you had just put the finishing touches on the third-worst postseason start in baseball history, you’d be looking for some excuses, too.
