Things So Bad For Ducks, They're Cheering For Huskies Now
Oregon fans gave Brandon Roy a standing ovation before last night's game. UW's Brandon Roy. Who was decked out in purple UW gear. What's wrong with this picture?
As part of a season-long goodbye to Mac Court, the Ducks hosted Washington in their last ever matchup at The Pit. Brandon Roy was the Huskies' honorary captain, and brought the house down as soon as he stepped on the court. Am I wrong in raising an eyebrow here?
I'm not the only one who did a double-take. Said Roy,
My teammates, they were wondering, 'you're going to be honored at an Oregon game?' I was like, 'yeah!'"
I understand that because Roy has led the Blazers' resurgence, he'll never have to buy a drink in Oregon for the rest of his life. But Luke Ridnour was booed at a UW game, even though he was a Sonic at the time.
Let this be a lesson for anyone who prefers the college game to the pros. Win in the big leagues, and school rivalries go out the window.
