This U.S. Open Cup Golazo Was One Of The Fastest In Timbers History
MLS' Portland Timbers are taking on the Tampa Bay of the North American Soccer League tonight in the U.S. Open Cup, and the Timbers wasted no time.
Nine minutes into the game, Timbers goalkeeper Milos Kocic played a goal kick into Rowdies territory, where the ball was allowed to hit the ground and bounce toward goal. A couple of Portland players took awkward touches on the ball, which then bounced high in the air and into the path of Timbers' midfielder Michael Nanchoff just outside the 18. Nanchoff struck it first time with his left across his body and tucked the ball just inside the far post.
It was a great finish, and the fifth-fastest goal the Timbers have scored in the U.S. Open Cup. Portland lead the Rowdies 2-0 in the second half.
