The shootout has been one of the most welcome additions to the NHL in the last few years. The excitement's palpable and the chances of seeing either an amazing goal or an amazing stop are present. But not tonight in Dirty Jerz.
Ilya Kovalchuk's 17-year, $102 million contract was the subject of much scrutiny this offseason and will be subject to a little more after his ridiculous gaffe tonight.
Embarrassing, dude. Just embarrassing. Best course is to put on some stonewashed jeans, pop in a t.A.T.u tape, get some sleep, and wake up tomorrow remembering that you're actually supposed to, you know, shoot it during a shootout.
