This Is What Passes For A Fight At The World Darts Championship
England's Phil Taylor beat the Netherlands' Raymond van Barneveld in the semifinals of the PDC World Darts Championship in London yesterday, but not without a little controversy. Van Barneveld appeared to refuse to let go of Taylor during the post-match handshake, the two exchanged words, and it was as on as darts allows.
"Not happy!" yelled the announcer, on the verge of soiling himself. "Shenanigans happening on stage!"
Darts is serious business over there. Like so many of our top athletes (he's a 13-time winner of this tournament), Taylor is a tattooed sex offender. I don't know a Dutchman alive I'd take over him in a brawl. Still, Taylor apologized for the spat with van Barneveld. He competes in the finals tomorrow against Michael van Gerwen, who he hasn't beaten in over a year.
