Mandatory Credit: Danielle Parhizkaran-Imagn Images A torn labrum in her shoulder will not keep two-time Olympic gold medalist Chloe Kim out of the Winter Games next month in Milan, Italy.
The 25-year-old American snowboarder said she is "good to go" after suffering the injury last week in Switzerland while on a training run.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Kim did not specify which shoulder was injured while preparing for the Laax Open in Switzerland this weekend. Due to the injury, the halfpipe star will not compete in the event.
"There are two ways to do it, and the way I did it is less severe than the other, so I'm really happy about that," she said. "Obviously, I'm really disappointed that I can't snowboard until right before the Olympics, which is going to be hard. I haven't gotten nearly the amount of reps that I would have liked, but that's OK."
It is unclear whether Kim will participate in the final major event before the Olympics, the Winter X Games in Aspen, Colo., later this month. If healthy, Kim will be the clear favorite to win a third gold medal in the halfpipe event, which begins Feb. 11.
In her lone competition this season last month, Kim injured her shoulder at Copper Mountain in Colorado.
Despite the setbacks and having to wear what she called "a super-sexy shoulder brace," Kim said in her Instagram video post that she is looking forward to being a tourist this week.
"I went through a bunch of different waves of emotions, but honestly, I'm really excited for this week," she said.
