Wayne Rooney Gets Dumbest Red Card Ever
Manchester United are taking on West Ham today, and after captain Rooney and striker Robin van Persie goals put United up two after just 22 minutes, West Ham pulled one back eight minutes before half. In the second half, the visitors settled in and began to dominate play. We've seen this movie before.
In the 59th minute, new signing Luke Shaw attempted to loft a ball into West Ham's box, but it was knocked down by West Ham striker Enner Valencia before bouncing to Stewart Downing, who started the counter from deep inside his own half. Rooney, in pursuit from behind, just ... kicked Downing in the knee. It was pretty nuts, and dumb, because Downing wasn't going anywhere.
United are reduced to 10 men, but are still holding on, 2-1, with about 10 minutes to play.
