White Sox OF Andrew Benintendi (adductor strain) heads to IL
Apr 4, 2025; Detroit, Michigan, USA; Chicago White Sox outfielder Andrew Benintendi (23) hits a single in the fifth inning against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Mandatory Credit: Rick Osentoski-Imagn Images The slumping Chicago White Sox now will have to make do without one of their best hitters as outfielder Andrew Benintendi was placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 7, Wednesday with a left adductor strain.
The 30-year-old Benintendi was removed from Sunday's game in the fifth inning. In nine games this season, Benintendi is batting .290 with two home runs and six RBIs.
Chicago has lost six straight entering Wednesday's action and has only two players left on the roster hitting better than .250 -- catcher Korey Lee (5-for-13, .385) and outfielder Austin Slater (3-for-11, .273).
The White Sox recalled outfielder Greg Jones from Triple-A Charlotte to take Benintendi's place on the roster. Jones, acquired off waivers from Colorado in March, has gone 4-for-31 (.129) in the minors.
Chicago continues with the second of a three-game series at Cleveland on Wednesday.
