Why Did The College Wrestling All-American Shoot The Duck?
This story is a couple of weeks old, but it somehow escaped the attention of our Ducks Desk. Ethen Lofthouse is a senior at Iowa who placed fifth at 184 pounds at last year's NCAA wrestling championships. One recent Friday afternoon, Lofthouse's neighbors noticed that he and his roommates were shooting arrows at a mallard duck in their backyard. So the neighbors called the cops, who eventually cited Lofthouse for not having a duck hunting license and for hunting out of season.
But that's not the best part. When police arrived, the neighbors told them the duck had been taken into the garage. I'll let the Iowa City Press-Citizen take it from here:
Police say Lofthouse, 22, admitted to shooting the duck and provided his bow and the dead duck for inspection. Lofthouse told police he was an avid hunter and his intention was to eat the duck.
