Giants Fan Goes Swimming For 69th Splash Hit
Screencap [object Object] The San Francisco Giants play in a lovely bayside ballpark, with McCovey Cove and the Pacific Ocean (sort of) just feet past the right field wall. This nautical branch of the ballpark is famous for its flocks of boats, as well as the Splash Hit. There’s a big counter on the outfield wall of how many dingers have managed to find a watery grave, but since the 2014 postseason, the Giants have been stuck on 68. Tonight, Brandon Belt hit the 69th, ensuring that attendees will get to chuckle, “Nice” to themselves for a while.
(Mobile readers, check it out here).
The man who jumped in for it may not have understood the childish, giggly magnitude of the ball he grabbed, but he earned it with that quick aquatic recovery. Gronk would be proud.
