The Rays Killed Steve Irwin, And The American League Is Next [UPDATES]
Oh, Raymond, no.
The provenance of this photo is uncertain—it was reportedly taken at last night's Rays game, a heartbreaking loss to for Baltimore. We've been sent it a couple of times, and it's turned up on Twitter, but if you have any more info on who made the sign and who took the picture, please let us know.
All we know is that Raymond is a heartless killing machine, and he won't stop until Tampa Bay wins another pennant. With the Blue Jays and Orioles on the way up...you're next, Jeff Corwin.
UPDATE: We heard from the Rays fan who brought the sign last night, and asked Raymond to take a picture with it. He sent a few more pics of the moment, below.
There were a couple empty seats in front of me so Raymond sat down. I handed him the sign and he read it, obviously thought it was funny because he stood up on the chairs and held it up for literally 3 seconds, obviously realizing what he was doing or when he saw the reaction from some of the fans, and got down and tried to hand it back. That's when I started snappin off photos.
UPDATE No. 2: The Rays have released a statement.
Last night Rays mascot Raymond was handed an inappropriate sign brought to the game by a fan. Fans are welcome to bring signs into Tropicana Field provided they are not offensive. The Tampa Bay Rays regret that this particular sign was displayed in the ballpark, and we apologize for the lapse in judgment.
