A.J. "Fuckin' Shit" Clemente Gets Pep Talk From News Legend Tom Brokaw
A.J. Clemente, whose first day at the anchor desk of Bismarck NBC affiliate KFYR became his last after being fired for opening the show with "Fuckin' Shit," made the rounds at NBC this morning and even earned a pep talk from one one of the biggest figures in broadcast news: Tom Brokaw.
You can see his visit with Brokaw above, but Clemente also sat down with the Today show in an attempt to explain how all that fuckin' shit happened. What we learned:
Clemente did not have an IFB, and he received no cue from the director that he was on-air.
His co-anchor did not have an IFB either, because she left it in her car.
The broadcast started 30 seconds early, which is why both anchors appear so flustered and confused.
He most definitely did not say "Gay Fuckin' Shit." He was attempting to pronounce the name of London Marathon champion Tsegaye Kebede.
KFYR sounds like quite the slipshod operation—who puts anchors on the air without earpieces!?—, and we've since learned that they're overall a shitty group of people. We think A.J.'s better off without them, anyway. [NBC]
