A Short Video Tribute To Diego Maradona, The Manager
As mentioned yesterday, the World Cup 2010 will be remembered for three things - vuvuzelas, a terrible match ball, and Larissa Riquelme's mobile phone deftly positioned between her enormous bosoms. But one thing was glaringly left out—Diego Maradona.
So make that four things.
As with the other three, Maradona has been chucked on the scrapheap before the golden paint on the World Cup trophy has even had a chance to dry. He's been sacked by the Argentinian FA, despite suggesting that he'd happily sign a new contract.
A statement reads thusly:
"The president of the Argentinian Football Association, Mr Julio Grondona, made the members of the executive committee aware of the conversation with Mr Diego Maradona, setting out the points which had come out from the meeting."
"The executive committee unanimously resolved not to renew the contract with Mr Diego Maradona as coach of the Argentina national football team."
