Andrew Shaw Miraculously Remembers What He Said To Official, Apologizes [Update]
Image via [object Object] In a stunning turn of events, Blackhawks forward Andrew Shaw now recalls what he said to an official after being called for a penalty in Tuesday’s game against the Blues. The broadcast caught Shaw in the box banging his stick against the glass and saying something that definitely looked like, “Fuck you, fucking faggot,” but after the game, Shaw couldn’t say for sure:
Shaw released an apology through the Blackhawks today and acknowledged that his words were “hurtful”:
I am sincerely sorry for the insensitive remarks that I made last night while in the penalty box. When I got home and saw the video, it was evident that what I did was wrong, no matter the circumstances. I apologize to many people, including the gay and lesbian community, the Chicago Blackhawks organization, Blackhawks fans and anyone else I may have offended. I know my words were hurtful and I will learn from my mistake.
At least Shaw knew what he said was wrong after he realized everyone saw it.
Update (4:25 p.m.): The NHL suspended Shaw for Game 5 and fined him $5,000.
