Blake Griffin Tears Knee Cartilage, Will Not Play In The Olympics

When Blake Griffin twisted his knee yesterday during Team USA practice and No. 1 pick Anthony Davis was immediately summoned to Vegas to potentially fill his spot, we figured there was a chance this was a serious injury. Now, word comes down to the Los Angeles Times that Griffin has a torn meniscus in his left knee. While surgery will help him be ready in time for next season, he's been definitively ruled out of the London Olympics. As Woj reports, Davis will now take Griffin's spot on the roster.

If tonight's 53-point win over John Calipari's Dominican Republic squad is any indication, this means the 2012 Dream Team may only win their Olympic games by an average of, say, 30 points instead of 35.
