Thybulle got hurt in the first quarter of the Trail Blazers' game against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday in Salt Lake City, and he sat out the remainder of the contest.
An MRI exam the following day led to the diagnosis of an ulnar collateral ligament tear, leading to the operation on Friday in Los Angeles.
The team announced that Thybulle would be re-examined in four to six weeks.
Thybulle, 28, scored three points in five minutes during Portland's 136-134 win over Utah. On the season, he is averaging 5.0 points, 1.0 rebound, 0.8 assists and 2.5 steals in four games, all off the bench.
In seven NBA seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers (2019-20 to 2022-23) and the Trail Blazers (2022-23 to present), Thybulle has averages of 4.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.6 steals in 351 games (124 starts).
