Butler Does It Again
The Butler Bulldogs—a program that against all odds stormed past major-conference teams on its way to making two consecutive NCAA tournament finals—struck down another BCS conference team today, overcoming a late 11-point deficit to beat Purdue on this near-buzzer-beater reminiscent of the one Matt Howard laid in against Old Dominion in last year's tournament.
This time, it was Andrew Smith with the honors of putting Butler in the lead for good in a game played at Conseco Fieldhouse as part of the "Close The Gap Crossroads Classic." Butler fans would argue—and today's result would back them up—that the gap between Indiana's haves and haves-not was closed some time ago. [CBS]
