David Beckham: Still Scoring Masterful Goals, Still Showing Up Stuart Pearce
Amidst an Olympic team snubbing and disinterest in Opening Ceremony involvement L.A. Galaxy star David Beckham's taken his fair share for, most recently, buffoonery and mascot abuse.
Becks turned the focus back to soccer last night, as his role in a madcap 5-3 win at Portland proved vital with his two goals being the margin—and a gorgeous margin that was. It's hard to come up with a keeper who would have been able to stop his first golazo, a contender for MLS' goal of the season, and his second on a set piece was solidly and confidently executed. We're disappointed British Olympic soccer coach Stuart Pearce left Becks off the squad, but we're happy to enjoy the reaction. [NBCSN]
